Where Things Stand Right Now

As of the date above, Preserve Smarter is not yet a member of any affiliate program, so none of our links currently earn a commission. We plan to apply to affiliate programs — starting with Harvest Right's — and this page explains in advance how those links will work, so nothing changes behind your back. When we join a program, we'll update this page with its name.

How Affiliate Links Work

An affiliate link is a normal link to a retailer or manufacturer that tells them you came from our site. If you buy something after clicking it, the seller may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same either way.

What Commissions Never Change

• Our recommendations. We recommend what fits the reader — including telling you when a freeze dryer is not worth buying. Our payback calculator can, and sometimes does, answer "never."
• Our numbers. Prices, specs, and running costs come from manufacturer data, retail listings, and university and government sources, and we cite them. Manufacturer claims are labeled as manufacturer claims.
• Our honesty about testing. We don't yet own a home freeze dryer. Our recommendations are based on published specs and research, not hands-on testing, and we say so on every buying page.

No Paid Placements

No company pays to appear on Preserve Smarter, to be ranked higher, or to be reviewed. If we ever receive a product for free or any other payment connected to something we write about, we'll say so clearly on that page.

How to Spot an Affiliate Link

Pages that contain buying links show a short disclosure near the top, before any link appears. Links to retailers and manufacturers open in a new tab, and buttons like "Check Current Prices" are the most likely to be affiliate links once we join a program.
